This was made possible thanks to the cooperation of the State Revenue Committee with representatives of the People's Republic of China.
On December 6, 2024, a temporary passenger terminal was launched at the Bakhty customs post of the Department of State Revenue in the Abai region, which will allow tourists to cross the border between the two countries in accordance with current legislation and established procedure.
It is worth noting that previously individuals did not have the opportunity to cross the border for the purpose of tourism, since the terminal operated only for the passage of freight transport.
Now individuals for the purpose of tourism can visit the People's Republic of China and enter by car with a permit for special international passenger transportation, while the weight of imported luggage from the People's Republic of China for personal use should not exceed 25 kg per month.
Since the launch of the passenger terminal 180 individuals have crossed the border in Kazakhstan and 214 individuals in China.
